Rheinpark, Cologne Overview

Rheinpark is a 40-hectare urban park located along the right bank of the Rhine River, between the districts of Deutz and Mülheim. It offers expansive green spaces, ornamental fountains, and unobstructed views of the iconic Cologne Cathedral across the river. The park features a large playground, a thermal bath, and an open-air theater. A notable attraction is the narrow-gauge railway that traverses the park, offering a leisurely 20-minute ride with scenic views.

Established in 1957 for the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Exhibition), it has since become a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Accessing Rheinpark is convenient. The park is approximately 2 kilometers from Cologne's city center and can be reached via public transportation. The "Im Rheinpark" bus stop (Bus 150) is about a 6-minute walk from the park. Alternatively, visitors can experience the Cologne Cable Car, which connects the park to the zoo and offers panoramic views of the city and the Rhine River.
