Castle of the Christian Monarchs adjacent to the Guadalquivir River and near the renowned Mosque-Cathedral. It is well known for its well-preserved architecture and stunning gardens. Climbing the towers offers panoramic views of Córdoba. While the interior spaces are visited for their historical significance, the gardens are a must do during the visit. Evening visits can offer a different ambiance, with the gardens beautifully illuminated.
Constructed in 1328 by King Alfonso XI of Castile, the Alcázar stands on the foundations of earlier Roman, Visigothic, and Moorish structures. Its robust exterior features four distinctive towers: the Tower of Homage, the Tower of the Lions, the Tower of the Inquisition, and the Tower of the Dove. Inside, visitors can explore the Hall of Mosaics, showcasing intricate Roman mosaics discovered in Córdoba, and the Royal Baths of Doña Leonor, reflecting the Mudéjar architectural style. The meticulously maintained gardens, adorned with fountains and reflecting pools, offer a serene environment and are a testament to the site's historical evolution.
