Kaiser William II Observatory

Kaiser William II Observatory, Corfu Overview

Named after the Emperor of Germany William II (also known as Kaiser), the Kaiser William II Observatory is located on top of Pelekas Hill. It offers a panoramic view of the inland island and the sea. The Observatory stands at an altitude of 270 meters, where Kaiser often came to relax, and think about his operations while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

Through binoculars, tourists can look closer at the island, the sea, and the nearby beaches of Kontogialos and Glyfada. What adds to this magnificent Observatory is a more than 100 years old iron door with railings that leads to a lush garden. Thousands of tourists, including many love-struck couples, visit the place to lock in their love and be mesmerized by the stunning views. Interestingly, the spot was also called Kaiser's throne.
