One of the distinct sights of the Ionian sea is a Greek islet near Corfu known as Pontikonisi. Also known as Mouse Island, it is encompassed with lush vegetation, tall Cypress trees, and the monastery of Vlacherna. Another prominent feature of the islet is the Byzantine Chapel of Pantokrator.
Pontikonisi houses both a monastery and a chapel, often confused by tourists to be the same. Pontikoni has a unique shape and name, which makes it distinct and intriguing at the same time. It has also been a source of inspiration for a well-known painting by the Swiss painter Arnold Bocklin. With its prominent features and verdant landscape, this green islet is definitely worth the visit.
