Col de Bavella is a picturesque mountain pass and forest situated in South Corsica. On the route of Col de Bavella, you come across these majestic spires, cliffs and rocky needles that trace the horizon. The flora, views and nature here are distinctly impressive from the other parts in Corsica.
A little far from the major towns and hamlets, an excursion into this wilderness is still quite accessible and frequented by the majority of tourists. The Col de Bavella touches an altitude of 1200 metres with the needle peaks of other mountains hovering around the 1800 metre mark. There are numerous trails one can take through the Bavella forest (majorly pine trees) depending on time and physical constraints.
There is also an auberge here where you can grab a quick yet hearty lunch before setting afoot one of its shorter trails. The coastal view up the Col de Bavella is quite breathtaking. While on your way there, do stop at the cute little Zonza village, it has quite a few restaurants, bars and cafes you ought to try.
