Ile-Rousse, Corsica Overview
L’IIe Rousse is a group of islets located in the Balagne region, the north-west coast of Corsica. This seaside town is filled with ambient cafes, ice cream parlours, restaurants, and a central square wound up by narrow streets all soaked under the warmest microclimates in all of Corsica.
The Balagne hills that shelter and surround the town and the three large beaches that caress its land make the old town of L’IIe Rousse a perfect picnic spot for family, friends and lovers alike. Besides the views, the town also has a gorgeous covered marketplace that offers the freshest local produce. The Le Petit Train is a good joyride that passes through the major sites of the town at a leisurely pace and is quite an experience to have for both children and adults. Just 4 km east of the L’IIe Rousse lies the Parc de Saleccia where one can appreciate the variety and beauty of the mediterranean flora.
