La Balagne is a Tartagine Forest located in Corsica's National Park region. It is famous for its walk tours, that cut across smooth hills besides mesmerising blue waters covering olive orchards, vineyards, and honey-hued villages perched on hills that kiss the sky and offer panoramic views to die for.
This is a paradise away from the noises and compactness of the city yet only a few clicks away from mainland France. La Balagne offers numerous breathtaking viewpoints, cafes, churches, and cute and cosy shops all laced together by lovely cobbled streets. The Haute-Balagne fortress villages atop the hill overlooking the sea produced olives, figs, citrus groves, etc. Many villages are over a thousand years old. Zilla is a picturesque village amid olive groves, do visit the vineyard and taste their offerings, Montemaggiore is adorned by gorgeous fountains, ancient streets and arcaded houses. Atop a granite hilltop lies the Sant’Antonio, which is the oldest village in Corsica. Pigna is a compact conglomeration of blue shutters, orange roofs and the best place to immerse in the traditional cultures of Corsica. The Tartagine and Bonifato forests offer numerous picnic spots by the snow-fed rivers, under the mountains and amid the wild.
