St. Nicholas of Bari Cathedral, locally called the Chicken Church, is the seat of the Diocese of Da Lat and the suffragan of Ho Chi Minh City. Located on Tran Phu Street, this is one of the earliest French-style Roman Catholic churches built in Da Lat. From the top of the tower, one can get a panoramic vista of Da Lat and Langbiang Mountains in the distance.
The church's bell tower rises to nearly 50m with a rooster wind vane installed on the top of the cross, which has given it the Chicken Church moniker. The church is divided into 3 segments - the main prayer hall with the altar and pews and two compartments on each side with benches. The roof is covered in authentic French glasses in a myriad of colors. The church was built per the plan of Priest Celeste Nicolas, the Vicar of Da Lat at the time, between 1931 and 1942, after the establishment of Da Lat Diocese. It receives a big crowd every year during Christmas.
