Lam Vien Square, Dalat Overview

Overlooking the beautiful Xuang Huong Lake, Lam Vien Square is an open public space and the central point for activities and recreation in Da Lat. Spread over 72,000 sq.m., the square is famous for its colossal contemporary artworks made of stained glass. The two chief constructions here are the Wild Sunflower and the Artichoke Flower Bud. At night, both the structures, as well as the rest of the park come alive with bright lights.

The Wild Sunflower is 18m high and houses a performing art stage inside with a seating capacity of 1,500. There are coffee shops and bars as well. It is a tribute to the sunflowers that bloom every November in the streets of Da Lat. The structure is designed ingeniously. The pistil is angled just enough for the whole image of the sunflower to be reflected in the middle of the square. The Artichoke Bud is the creative outer facade of a coffee shop named Doha Cafe. The glass panels are mounted in helices, making it an excellent background for Instagram-worthy snaps. It creates a stunning scene with the glasses of the two buildings reflecting the neon lights. Lam Vien Square also serves as a perfect venue for music concerts, flower festivals, and live screenings of sporting events.
