Wadi El Weshwash is a desert garden oasis with a small rainwater lake in the mountain folds near Nuweiba, one hour away from Dahab. It is a 45 minute to 1 hour hike to the lake that has been formed by collecting rainwater through three springs over the centuries. The lake has more water in winters because of rains but it might have some smelly areas in summers due to stagnant water.
A 30 minute more hike can take one upto the three springs that fill the lake. The lake has various points of entry and can be explored in many ways. one can have a swim in the water or relax on the edge. It is an offbeat, hidden gem with panoramic views of canyon and freshwater lake. The trip to this lake should be preffered to be taken with a guide due to its remote position.
