Established in 1593, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi is said to be one of the oldest churches in Diu. However, this antique worship place was further converted into a hospital which is currently here as well.
Built in the name of the saint, Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone who was nicknamed as Francesco, this hilltop church emits a Portugal architectural style.
The wide set of stairs at the entrance leads to its ivory-embellished external feature. Offering great views of the Arabian sea, the Church of St Francis of Assisi houses white and blue arcs alongside a wooden altar.
