A small village lying just few miles from the sacred city of Harihareshwar, Bagmandala is said to have a vivid past. It is believed that the place was once home to Peshwa, the prime minister of Maratha Kingdom for several years.
The antiquity of the kingdom can be witnessed in form of an old fort called Bankot Fort and a Peshwa Sarak. This prime attraction of this village however is Jungle Jetty, a sea harbor amid the thick forest. The port present here is a ferry point that is used by the locals for travelling over the Bagmandala creek. Currently under planning is a launch of boat ride that will extend up to 5 kms and will take the visitors to Bankot Fort.
