The Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre, commonly known as Al Fanar or Qatar Islamic Culture Centre, is located close to Doha Corniche and is a prominent landmark in the city. It is famous for its cake-like architecture and unique spiral minaret design. It is home to the tallest Mosque in Qatar and a library. The mosque and centre are open to tourists.
The mosque is named after the famous Qatari Islamic scholar and the founder of the Qatari judicial system, Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud. The centre organises several activities and sessions to promote cultural, social, and religious life in Qatar. It also provides educational exhibitions, cultural centre tours, mosque visits, and Arabic language classes. Travellers can also visit the Souq Waqif, a popular marketplace in Doha, which is close to the centre.
