The traditional market of the Omani Souq is located on Salwa Road in Doha and deals exclusively in goods imported from Oman. This open-shop market is choke-full of Omani goods, from ceramics and woven baskets to dried fruits, nuts and spices. The market has a separate section exclusively selling various flowers and foliage plants. The market is a perfect place to shop for oud perfumes and authentic omani frankincense.
The market also sells white truffles at throw away prices during certain times of the year, if the desert receives enough rain.
Flowers such as daisies, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, sunflowers and pansies are readily available in the souq, as are some unique bonsai plants. The souq also sells local produce, such as fresh fruit and vegetables. There are numerous nurseries in the vicinity that are worth exploring. It is recommended to haggle as much as possible to avoid buying overpriced goods.
