Durban Natural Science Museum is the most elaborate science museum in the country, known for its life-size T-rex replica. It is located in the Durban City Hall on Smith Street. Spanning over 2000 square feet, the museum displays several exhibits, including the skeleton of the extinct Dodo bird. A guided tour is available.
The stuffed animals, birds, insects and plants are very well displayed at the Durban Natural Science Museum with in-depth explanations. The animal and bird call audios also help bring the exhibits to life. In addition, there is an exhibit on the origin of Africa, an authentic mummy and displays on fossils, poaching, conservation and more. The Durban City Hall is also worth visiting with beautiful architecture, an art gallery on the top floor and a public library in the basement.
