Umgeni River Bird Park

This bird zoo is a must for all bird lovers. It has several aviaries and interesting exhibits. With a beautifully created landscape full of waterfalls and rock faces, the Umgeni Bird River Park is a fabulous place for bird watching. A special exhibit on how the birds are hatched and raised is also available.

The park is home to numerous species of birds, more than 200 perched on the branches of the park's hundreds of trees. It actually is home to 24 endangered species of birds and actively works in breeding and conserving 17 of these species. But undoubtedly the one thing you just have to do here is watching the Free Flight Bird Show. With birds from all over the world, it is a wonderful show where the birds entertain the crowds in unrestricted flights. The Cape Vulture, owls, Wattled Crane, and hornbills among many others. The show also gives you a chance to learn a lot about all the birds participating and observe their natural behaviour. The show is staged two times a day, once at 11:00 and then at 14:00, depending on the weather.
