uShaka Marine World

A marine theme park with a massive aquarium, water park and several interesting exhibits. Durban's top attraction.

uShaka opened back in 2004, and since then has fast become not only South Africa's, but one of the world's best marine theme parks. Spread over a massive 40 acreas, the park is home to the world's fifth largest aquarium - uShaka Sea World, the Wet'n Wild water park with several rides and also the southern hemisphere's highest slide, the authentic and sandy uShaka beach for relaxation, and a Village Walk dedicated to show the visitors the life in a normal African village. The aquarium is uShaka's biggest attraction in itself. It is home to several species of shark, large fish, and rays. Also, you can do more than just stand from a distance and view these creatures. uShaka also offers many snorkelling and scuba diving activities into the lagoon. Dive into the blue waters among the fish and the rays, and get a perspective that is otherwise impossible. There are animal shows as well, such as the popular Dolphin Show. For those of you who are not satisfied with pleasant sea creatures, visit the Dangerous Creatures exhibition. An enclosure adjacent to the aquarium, it is home to some of the most feared animals in the world. The Nile crocodile, tarantulas, rock and Burmese pythons, black mambas, gila monsters and many others can be found here. There are restaurants and cafes throughout the park, several in the aquarium, in the Wet'n Wild park, and also the Village Walk. The village walk also has several small and interesting shops.
