Faro Beach is the main beach of Faro. It's a long, narrow stretch of sand facing the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Ria Formosa lagoon on the other, offering both ocean and lagoon views. The beach is approximately 9 kilometers in length, providing ample space for sunbathing, swimming, and leisurely walks. It is primarily a day-trip destination.
The western side of Praia de Faro is more developed, featuring numerous restaurants, cafés, and bars. Visitors can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to explore the Ria Formosa lagoon. The eastern stretch of the beach is less crowded, ideal for those seeking a more tranquil experience. The beach can be quite busy during the peak summer months. For a more relaxed experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons (late spring or early autumn) when the weather is still pleasant, and crowds are thinner.
