The Palm Gardens were opened to the public in 1871 and were created by a group of passionate horticulturists who were determined to establish a botanical garden in the heart of Frankfurt. Today, the garden covers an area of 22 hectares and is home to over 13,000 different plant species, making it one of the largest botanical gardens in Germany.
