Bithnah Fort is a historic building located just outside Fujairah city overlooking all the strategic routes that cross the Hajar Mountains through Wadi Ham. Built in the year 1735, Bithnah Fort is nestled along the main highway, 13 km away from Fujairah city. Bithnah Fort is also said to be a site of second millennium BC megalithic T-shaped tomb that was again put in use during first millennium BC.
It once played a significant role in the defence of the U.A.E's eastern region. The fort was originally crafted with stones, mortar, plasters resulting in square shaped structure, and is adorned with two watchtowers on the west side. Once you have reached the fort, it offers a picture perfect view of the surrounding area. The actual origin of the fort is vague which adds to the mystery of this place and thus attracting tourists in large number. It is also easily accessible as road sign are marked clearly.
