Dog's Bay

Dog's Bay Beach is located in the southeastern part, just outside of Roundstone Village (roughly a 7-minute drive away). Visitors can discover numerous small cliffs at the bay with breathtaking views, swimming, and sunbathing. The beach is famous for water sports activities.

Activities, popular here, include windsurfing and kitesurfing and the beautiful bay is also perfect for snorkeling and camping. It’s one of two beaches in Roundstone village, the other being Gurteen Bay, which sits right next to it, is a remarkable destination with its extensive stretches of golden sand dunes and clear waters. The 2 mile beach with spectacular horseshoe shape is perfect for sunbathing and a swim at the pure white sand beach made of fragments of crystals, in crystal clear turquoise shade waters. The beach is child friendly as its water is shallow and almost always calm. Near the beach are the grasslands made up of machair vegetation which is rare and is found only on the west coast of Ireland and Scotland. The nearest holiday resort is the Ardagh Hotel where you can enjoy fresh seafood and Irish delicacies with a glass of fine wine in the restaurants.
