Place du Bourg De Four

Place du Bourg De Four, Geneva Overview

Geneva’s oldest square, the Bourg de four square is known mainly for its lively cafes with a cosy ambience and warmly hugging curtains surrounded by houses with balcony windows burgeoning with gorgeous bourgeois; this square is a must-visit in Geneva for some coffee or hot chocolate.

It has been the heart of the city’s old town ever since the 9th century with all the roads inevitably ending up at this famous square. One can also visit the numerous stores offering classic antiquities and admire the architecture that travels back centuries with an 18th-century marble fountain at the centre of it all. Nearby the fountain lies a police station, and a narrow staircase besides which leads you straight to St. Peter’s Cathedral.

Nights offer an entirely different experience from the day. The lights, the after-work crowd, and the hustle-bustle of a street alive, you find yourself at the centre of perhaps the most jaunty street in all of Europe
