Agonda Beach, Goa Overview

Agonda Beach in South Goa is one of the pristine beaches ideal for people looking for solitude and calm. With the clear blue water and coconut trees, this beach is a delight for nature lovers. Agonda Beach is not very popular among tourists, and hence, relatively quiet and less crowded. It is also extremely popular as a nesting ground for olive ridley sea turtles.

The Agonda beach becomes a little dangerous at high tide hours, and surfing is a high-risk situation. This beach is also not recommended for swimming due to the high-risk factor associated with it. However, it is the ideal place to enjoy the romantic side of Goa. It is also a great spot for sunbathing and relaxing due to the presence of very few tourists. There are no hawkers allowed on Agonda Beach, as the villagers want Agonda to stay untouched and away from the effect of commercialisation.

  • You can spot a few sunbeds lying on the beach, which can be rented for relaxing and sunbathing. However, on the arrival of the tourist police or Canacona local government officials, these sunbeds are instantly removed and kept inside; making the beach even more gorgeous.
  • Many tourists visit Agonda beach at night to witness the olive ridley turtles. However, make sure to keep your voices to the minimum and not flash any strong lights to make these endangered creatures uncomfortable or scare them away.
