Hastings City Art Gallery

Te Whare Toi O Heretaunga or Hastings City Art Gallery amplifies regional voices. It provides experiences to the regional community and is always in touch in developing local art scenes. The gallery seeks to explore, identify and develop different arts. They also offer free education and learning programmes as they seek to provide economic, cultural and social benefits. It is based on the Maori principles of hospitality (manakitanga), stewardship (kaitiakitanga) and unique character(ahuatanga). The contemporary art display is a must-see experience in Hastings.

The gallery has a central location and is located in the Hastings Civic Centre next to the Hastings Library. The gallery is a stunning place to visit and features a wide range of national and global artists as well. There are immersive experiences and Maori history where you can learn more about New Zealand in a safe space. There are abstract displays, symbolism, religion, virtual reality, and landscapes among others.
