Design Museum, Helsinki Overview

Design Museum Helsinki, in the Kaartinkaupunki district, is a museum known for its extensive exhibitions on industrial design, fashion, and graphic design, offering deep insights into Finland's rich design heritage. Its collection includes iconic pieces from renowned Finnish designers. The museum is regarded as a perfect place to see a comprehensive portrayal of Finnish design evolution. Its museum shop offers a diverse selection of design items.

The museum resides in a Neo-Gothic edifice designed by architect Gustaf Nyström. Since its establishment in 1873, the Design Museum has been committed to researching, collecting, and documenting design, amassing a collection of over 75,000 objects, 125,000 images, and 45,000 drawings. In January 2024, it merged with the Museum of Finnish Architecture, forming the Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki, which now operates across two buildings: Building D at Korkeavuorenkatu 23 and Building A at Kasarmikatu 24.
