The Monastery of Panagia Kera Kardiotissa is one of the oldest monasteries in Kera Village, on the foothills of Mt Dikti. It is a stone church dedicated to Virgin Mary. The monastery is beautifully built in Byzantine architecture and has a small museum with artistic murals from the ancient 14th-15th centuries open to visitors.
The gardens surrounding the monastery glorify the scenic beauty of the location to the fullest. The history behind the establishment of the sanctuary is quite fascinating as people have yet to learn the exact construction period of it. Originally the church had two rooms which were then reconstructed in 1735 and expanded with two more rooms, and a celebration takes place annually on the 8th of September.
