Natural History Museum of Crete, Heraklion Overview

The Natural History Museum of Crete is an environment museum on Sofokli Venizelou Street, near the harbor. It showcases artifacts and holds demonstrations of natural phenomena, one of the most popular being the Earthquake simulator. The museum visually represents the varied life forms in the Mediterranean area, with Crete and Greece in the limelight.

The realistic representation of the Eastern Mediterranean ecosystem is exhibited as The Mega-Dioramas, making up the museum's biggest event. There are small aquariums and East-Mediterranean terrarium animals in the Live Museum region that are worthy of witnessing.  It was established in 1980. The Light Mysteries, which consist of 3D illusions and holograms, are the center of attraction. People get amazed by the Seismic Table that senses earthquakes and the Stavros Niarchos Discovery Centre.
