Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Center, Hong Kong Overview

The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, located inside the beautiful lush Haiphong Road Kowloon Park in Tsim Sha Tsui district of Kowloon, is one of the oldest heritage museums. It was built more than a century ago under the British colonial rule. Once the site of British Army's Whitefield Barracks, the Heritage Discovery Centre is known for its permanent exhibition gallery, along with the thematic exhibitions gallery, lecture hall, and the reference library.

Originally built as a colony for the British military, the Hong Kong government was given back the land which they used to house and construct the temporary premises of the Hong Kong Museum of History until 1998, when the present day museum complex was constructed and opened up to the public to share the proud story of the city’s fight against the colonial rulers. Housed in blocks S61 and S62, the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre now features a range of themes and topics, proudly displaying parts and pieces of the rich and vibrant history and culture of Hong Kong.
