Kasarkod Beach, Honnavar Overview

Snuggled in the Honnavar Taluk of Uttara Kannada District, Kasarkod Beach is certified as a Blue Flag beach in Karnataka. The Kasarkod Beach is encircled by a thick forest of Casuarinas and is the most popular & pristine beach on the Konkan coast. Notably, Kasarkod beach has attained the status of the first Eco-themed beach in Karnataka.

Kasarkod Beach is an eco-friendly beach, developed jointly by the Tourism and Forest Department of Karnataka and Kasarkod Village to boost eco-tourism in Karnataka and enchant tourists from all over. It lies off the main road and is a slightly secluded spot away from the city commotion. The Kasarkod beach stretches over 5 km and is a neat & well-maintained beach covered with white sand.

It has an admirable old lighthouse, a solar lighting facility, a solid waste treatment plant, and a greywater treatment plant. Also, the beach offers all essential amenities, such as filtered drinking water, clean changing rooms, washrooms, arrangements for seating, & first-aid room. This beach is one of the cleanest beaches with great scenic beauty and offers a lovely experience walking along the sandy surface. Being a scarcely crowded beach, it is the ideal destination for travelers seeking some moments of peace.

  • Kasarkod Beach features a large Beach Information Board, right at its entrance that provides comprehensive information about various aspects of the beach in a clear, crisp, and colorful manner, including the beach safety information, the Do’s and Don’ts for visitors, & more.
  • Kasarkod beach has an efficacious visual management system, under which proper signages are present everywhere for visitors, offering useful information regarding directions, safety measures, and conveniences and facilities at the beach.
  • On either side of the entrance to the beach are long walkways and public facilities built using environment-friendly material.
  • 24/7 vigilance is maintained through CCTV cameras and seven security personnel at the beach for maintenance of security.
  • Littering, smoking, alcohol consumption, & other illegal activities are prohibited in the area.

How to Reach Kasarkod Beach Honnavar

The nearest airport to Kasarkod beach is the Mangalore International Airport, around 180 km. The nearest railway station is Honnavar Railway Station, about 8.8 Km from Kasarkod. Besides, Kasarkod is well-connected by road via NWKRTC (North West Karnataka Transport Corporation) to the notable cities of Karnataka. The way to this beach is via NH66, and the nearest bus stop is the Kasarkodu bus stop. Once the visitors arrive at the airport, railway station, or bus stop, they will have to hire a taxi or cab from the local operators to reach Kasarkod beach, as public transport is not available to this beach.
