Istanbul Tram

The Nostalgic tramways of Istanbul are more than just a mode of transport. These beautifully restored trams run along two routes: the T2 Taksim-Tunel line on the European side and the T3 Kadıköy-Moda line on the Asian side. The most famous one is T2, that can be taken from Taksim square using Istanbulkart or a single pass ticket(18TL) bought from the machines in front of the tram station. The tram ride is slow and leisurely, allowing tourists to enjoy street views with its bustling shops, cafes, and historical buildings.

The nostalgic trams can get quite crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons in spring and autumn. For a less crowded experience, consider riding early in the morning or later in the evening. Both the T2 and T3 lines offer unique experiences. The T2 line is ideal for those wanting to explore the historic and bustling İstiklal Caddesi, while the T3 line offers a serene tour of the charming Kadıköy and Moda neighborhoods. After taking the T2 tram, consider walking back along İstiklal Caddesi to explore its boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. Similarly, after riding the T3 tram, spend some time exploring Kadıköy’s markets and Moda’s waterfront.
