There are a lot of festivals which are celebrated in Itanagar. Nyokum is celebrated by the Nyishi people of Arunachal. The Dree Festival is an Apatani agricultural festival celebrated to appease the gods to avoid famine. Solung is another festival celebrated by the Adi in the month of September for five days or more. This is a harvest festival celebrated in hope of good harvesting season. Monpas celebrate the Losar festival. It is celebrated to mark the New year for a period of 5 days and is marked by prayers, hoisting of religious flags, reading of Buddhist scripts and lighting butter lamps in the houses.
