A zoological garden in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the Jaipur Zoo is situated close to the Albert Hall Museum and within the Ram Niwas Garden premises. It is is one of the oldest zoos in the country and India’s fourth-largest gharial breeding farm. There is also a small museum within the zoo premises.
The Jaipur Zoo spans an area of approximately 35 acres and houses over 50 species from all over the world. It is divided into two sections of which one comprises mammals while the other comprises reptiles and birds. Visitors can discover over 550 animals and birds here, including leopards, black panthers, pheasants, ducks, Indian pythons, turtles, gharials etc. Jaipur Zoo, owing to its vast expanse of gardens and wildlife, is not only an excellent place for school picnics but also for those interested in zoology and botany.
