Narain Niwas Palace, Jaipur Overview

Narain Niwas Palace is a well-known heritage hotel in Jaipur that once belonged to the then Thakur of Kanota, Amar Singh Ji. It was built as a country resort for the royal family but today, the palace is one of the central attractions in Jaipur for an exclusive retreat. History of Narain Niwas Palace

Narain Niwas Palace was built in 1928 by General Amar Singh Ji who was the Thakur of Kanota. Prior to being made into a heritage hotel, Narain Niwas Palace was built as a retreat for the Kanota Family to escape the routine life. It was named after Amar Singh Ji’s father, Thakur Narain Singh Ji. Additionally, Amar Singh’s elder brother, Thakur Shivnath Singh has supervised the entire construction.

When it was built, the surroundings had thick forests where the men in the family would often go hunting. For quite some time now, Narain Niwas Palace has been transformed into a heritage hotel and is managed by the members of the Kanota family.

The Architecture of Narain Niwas Palace, Jaipur

Narain Niwas Palace has an Anglo-Indian Architecture with high ceilings, pillars and arches. The walls bear colourful Jaipuri paintings and murals, and the décor consists of delicate chandeliers and antique furniture. The Palace is situated in the middle of the estate and has gardens with fountains and orchards all around it. The pathways are wide, neatly maintained and have marble statues, weapon replicas, plants and shrubbery all around.

One portion of the palace has outdoor seating with wrought iron furniture. The portico also has some arrangement for the guests to lounge around. There are 52 rooms with the old-age charm and modern amenities, connected by wide, decorated corridors.

Out of the 52 rooms that Narain Niwas Palace houses, 36 are standard rooms while the remaining 16 are royal suites. They are categorized as Standard Room, Deluxe Room, Garden Suite and Kanota Suite. The tariff ranges between INR 7,500/- to INR 20,000/- for a room shared between two people.

Each of these rooms has big windows and antique furniture that includes four-poster beds, side tables, coffee tables, mirrors, dressing tables, writing desks, lounge/ sofa sets etc. The décor has high-quality upholstery, carpets and drapes with elaborate patterns to suit the ambience. The walls bear murals and paintings in simple yet elegant colours.
