Xanthos is an ancient city in Lycia, in Antalya province, known for its well-preserved ruins, rich history, and culture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses an acropolis overlooking the city on top of the hill. Some of the important ruins here include the Nereid Monument, a Greek Temple, a Roman-era bridge, the remains of a theater, Xanthos inscriptions, and the Inscribed Pillar of Xanthos.
Located in the village Kinik, and being an important city in the region during the classical period, Xanthos is separated by a small ravine and was once the capital of the Lycian League. Restored by Romans, the city has Hellenistic walls at its entrance.
