Situated at a distance of 500 m from the Kedarnath Temple on the southern side, Bhairavnath Temple is enshrined by the revered Hindu God - Lord Bhairav. It is perched on top of a hillock and offers magnificent views of the surrounding Himalayas and the entire Kedarnath valley below. Lord Bhairav is believed to be the main gana of Lord Shiva and hence the temple is all the more important. The enshrining deity of the temple is also known as Kshetrapal or the guardian of the region, has a Trishul for a weapon and a dog as his vehicle.

Best Time to Visit
Bhairavnath Temple remains closed for most part of the winter season. It is only open for a few months i.e. from May to November. So you should keep that in mind while booking the tickets.

Bhairavnath Temple is situated just about half a km from the Kedarnath Temple so you can either choose to trek the distance on foot. Alternatively, Gaurikund is the nearest motorable road to reach the temple in case you are driving a vehicle. Gaurikund is well connected to most nearby major cities of Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun etc. by public buses. The nearest railway station is in Rishikesh while the nearest airport is in Dehradun which is around 250 km away.
