Assos is a quaint village located on the Erissos peninsula on the Northwestern coast of Kefalonia, 10 km from Fiskardo village. The Venetian Castle of Assos is one of the largest castles in Greece and is a must-visit. The 16th-century fortification was built to protect the village from pirates. A small church, residences, two entrance gates, and towering walls are all that remain. The famous Fiskardo village is a few km from Assos. Several restaurants, bars, and bistros serve traditional Greek food.
