Khao Lak’s White Sand Beach gives way to Coconut Beach north of Pakarang Cape Peninsula. The beach is lined by coconut palms that offer soothing shade to sunbathers and picnickers. Coconut Beach is almost deserted, with only remains of fallen branches dotting the sand strip. A few hundred meters is completely deserted and makes for a short beach hike.
A large section of Coconut Beach is not even developed yet. There are no resorts in this part to rent sunbeds, let alone spend the night. However, if you carry towels, it should be enough to lie down and enjoy the serenity of the place. A northward walk will bring you to Coconut Beach’s top spot, the So Lonely Bar. It is built on the remnants of Similana Resort which was wrecked in the 2004 Tsunami. It serves fruit shakes, mocktails, cocktails, coffee, and cold beer starting from THB 50.
