A small suburban village in Kochi, Panangad sits in the skirts of Kochi Bypass. It is nestled just 7.7 km from Vytilla junction, and being a suburban village, it makes up for Kochi?s urban agglomeration. The city limits end at Kumbalam, after which the area belongs to the Alappuzha district.
Panangad is a part of Kumbalam Panchayat, where the panchayat office is located within the village itself. Along with Panangad, Kumbalam also falls under the Kumbalam Panchayat. Access to this village is fairly easy as it is a hub for many of the intra-city buses that have to travel through the popular city points. Private buses are available frequently here every 5 to 10 minutes, but the frequency of public buses remains low as the roads aren’t wide enough to accommodate large public buses. Because of its easy connectivity to Kochi Bypass at Madavana junction, getting to any part of the main city is relatively easy.
