Koh Rok is located approximately 30 kilometers south of Koh Lanta Island, near Krabi in Thailand. Koh Rok Nok and Koh Rok Nai, and several other islands that form the Mu Ko Lanta are part of the Mu Koh Lanta National Park. Koh Rok is a tiny island with the bare minimum facilities for tourists. Its less-commercialized quality thus draws nature lovers in a considerable number. Its proximity to Koh Lanta and Krabi makes it a great place for a quick getaway.
With no scope for pubbing, shopping, and entertainment, the island attracts less of the crowd wanting to party hard. For snorkeling, Koh Rok is often compared with Koh Phi Phi, which is extremely crowded during the tourist season. Thus, Koh Rock is one of the few places in Asia where one can find some amount of solitude. No locals live on the island, only a few rangers from the national park. It is best to visit this island over a day trip as there is not much to explore. One can also spend some time on the white sand beaches, take a long stroll along the coastline, sunbathe or go swimming in the waters. The tours to Koh Rok Island are generally closed from May to November because of rough weather conditions.
