Chalok Ban Kao Bay has the third largest beach on Koh Tao and some of the bluest waters in Thailand. Located just north of Taa Toh Bay and Freedom Beach, this isolated strip of sand is devoid of heavy crowds and offers a serene, peaceful environment. Chalok Baan Kao Bay doesn’t have any water sports, but the waters are perfectly safe and shallow if you are a beginner or have children.
Some excellent spots to explore within walking distance are Buddha Rock Cape, Freedom Beach, John-Suwan viewpoint, Sai Nuan Beach, and June Jea Bay. Shark Bay is also nearby, where you can snorkel and may even spot green turtles and Blacktip reef sharks. But mostly, the place is meant for swimming sessions and relaxation over a weekend.
The Chalok Baan Kao Bay beach can be accessed via the entry point to Freedom Beach. This is also a viewpoint for a spectacular vista of Koh Tao overlooking Chalok Baan Kao Bay. The beach is small and dotted with palms, a dive shop, and local snack bars. The town, however, has various accommodations, restaurants, bars, bakeries, cafes, clinics, tour operators, scooter rental companies, a pharmacy, and a 7-Eleven.
