Winemaking in Kos is a heritage that dates back to the 3rd century BCE. Even though Kos has no organized wine-making industry, the few vineyards and wineries produce authentic organic wine from locally sourced ingredients. Wineries also have several activities, like vineyard tours and wine-tasting, where you can experience the traditional wine-making process of the island.
Before the Turkish Invasion, Kos was well known for a variety of wines called ‘melantanon’. Even though there are a few wineries in Kos, the most popular ones are Triantafyllopoulos Winery in Kos Town and Mesariano winery in Mesaria. In addition to wine-tasting and guided tours, Triantafyllopoulos Winery has an outdoor pool and dinner buffets and cocktail parties during the night.
