Oskar Schindler, who saved over 1200 Jews from the Holocaust, had a factory where he provided employment to them. Now converted to a museum called Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, it is a homage to the man and all the Jews who went through the terrors of the Holocaust.
The museum has protected several things from the factory, which are open from viewing here. One of the most defining things is the cabin of Oskar Schindler. It has his desk, artworks, a huge map of Europe he used to refer to in order to demonstrate Nazi conquests, and his infamous list of employees working at the factory, which is where Spielberg’s movie gets its name from. The museum also has a permanent exhibition, known as Krakow under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945, which provides the grave details of the plight of the Jews during the Nazi rule at the time of World War II. Other than that, it also has temporary exhibitions as well as a screening room for audio-visual presentations about the many horrors that Jews had to face due to Hitler’s wrath, and several other chapter of Polish history.
