Siida, Lapland Overview

Siida is a Sámi culture and nature museum located in Inari, Finnish Lapland. It is the most important cultural center for the indigenous Sámi people in Finland, offering insights into Sámi traditions, Arctic nature, and the unique way of life in the far north. open-air section includes buildings from the 1800s, showing traditional Sámi housing and storage methods. It features an Open-Air Museum, Nature Center, a museum shop and cafe.

Siida’s main museum showcases the history, traditions, and daily life of the Sámi people, the only recognized indigenous group in the European Union. Exhibits include traditional Sámi clothing (gákti), handicrafts (duodji), tools, and historical photographs. During the summer months, the Siida Open-Air Museum provides a walk-through experience of traditional Sámi life, featuring authentic old Sámi buildings, reindeer herding shelters, and fishing huts.
