Veerabhadra Temple, Lepakshi Overview

Veerabhadra Temple is situated in Lepakshi, in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. The main deity worshipped here is lord Veerabhadra Swamy, The temple is most famous for its sculptures and architectural beauty.

As per Hindu beliefs, a major incident of the Ramayana occurred in this place. Ravana after kidnapping Sita was heading towards Lanka. On the way, a bird called Jatayu tried to fought Ravana but in vain. It was here that Jatayu fell down. The temple has a footprint on its premises which is believed to be that of Sita.

Make sure you visit this place once in a life time atleast, for sure you will appreciate the beauty of the temple and the sculptures, there are stunning designs on the temple, we are not sure how the (Read More)y could do these wonderful designs in those times, please carry water to drink when you tour this place.
