Named after a Liverpool industrialist Henry Tate, the Tate gallery is the subsidiary of famous Tate gallery in London. Like its London counterpart, this one also has an amazing collection of classical and contemporary art. It is regarded as the foremost art gallery in Northern England and a lot of exhibitions are held here throughout the year.
The Tate gallery in Liverpool is home to the national collection of modern art in the north. It is located on the Albert Dock and is within a short walking distance from the centre of the city. It is one of the most visited galleries outside London. The gallery has a lot of special exhibitions all throughout the year and that brings together lot of artworks from around the world. Famous artists whose works have been exhibited here in the recent times include Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt and Rene Magritte. There is also a collection of other artworks and you can discover something new on each visit.
Temporary Relocation : While the gallery at the Royal Albert Dock is closed for improvement, Tate Liverpool can be found at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) North at Mann Island, approximately 425m from the gallery.
The gallery at the Royal Albert Dock is set to reopen in autumn 2025.
