Lonavala in Monsoon (July - September)

Monsoons in Lonavala are a continuous affair. The rains are torrential, heavy rains which show no signs of stopping, but for a few half hours a day. Although some may think that visiting Lonavala during such weather is not feasible, it is not so as the rain makes the lush greenery of the hill station stand out against the rocky surfaces and makes it all the more mesmerising. If you are planning to visit during the monsoon, we suggest that you pack an extra pair (or two) of change of clothes, rain jackets and be prepared to have fun in the rain at the waterfalls. The few weeks just after the end of monsoon offer beautiful greenery without the incessant rains, which makes it pleasant and comfortable to travel in the town.

Lonavala in Summer (March - June)

Summers in Lonavala has uncharacteristically hot and humid weathers. The temperature varies between 25 to 35-degree Celcius, and while that is certainly a relief from the heat in the nearby cities, it's not exactly the ideal hill-station weather. The afternoons are quite hot, but the evenings and mornings are pleasant enough. Quite a few trekking enthusiasts visit Lonavala and the surrounding areas for a few night treks - they start trekking around 9 PM, reach the summit by midnight and come back early next morning. This results in March to May being offseasons for the hill station. Alternatively, it being an offseason makes prices for hotels and bungalows extraordinarily cheap and affordable. If you are planning to visit during this time, we recommend that you book your stay in a nice hotel/resort to spend the hot afternoons indoors.
