The Echo Park Lake was constructed in eastern part of Los Angeles in 1860, serving as the city’s reservoir for drinking water. It is now amongst the most popular picnic spots thanks to its pleasant ambience. Tourists visiting the park will be treated to a great view of the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. The lake also has a fountain in the middle which shoots water upto a height of 200 ft. This scenic setting has also been featured in movies and television shows, such as Chinatown (1974).
The lake is famous for its swan shaped pedal boats. The joyride along the lake is ideal for families and dates. The park is also a great place to have a picnic. Apart from picnic tables, the park also has a children’s play area and barbecue pits. It is also the location of the annual Lotus festival in July.
The park surrounding the lake has a 1 mile looping promenade along the waterfront. As a result, the park is frequented by runners. The park also has multiple sports facilities that cater to the public. These include basketball and tennis courts, as well as an outdoor pool.
The other sights to visit in the park are the renovated boathouse, which is now a restaurant, and the Lady of the Lake statue.
