A former reservoir, now converted into a park, the Girard Reservoir is located north of the Mulholland Drive of Los Angeles, California. This was originally constructed in 1923 by the LADWP as a source of water for the neighborhoods surrounding the Woodland Hills. The basin was, however, drained in the 1980’s and decommissioned. It’s since been covered by trees and bushes.
However, thanks to the rapid urban development of the area, the reservoir was an epicenter of protests to be converted into a park for the residents. The area is surrounded by various exotic trees that were planted in the early 1900’s when being developed.
