The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the landmark cemetery at the heart of Hollywood and also hosts cultural events. Interred with honor here are several prominent people who shaped the city of Los Angeles and elite stars from the entertainment industry. Located in a neighborhood full of properties owned by Hollywood stars, the cemetery is a must-visit destination for those interested in the history of Tinseltown.
There is a beautiful flower shop just behind the entrance where guided tours begin, ending at the Judy Garland Pavilion. The 2.5 hours tour by Karie Bible highlights the background information, scandals and lores attached to the revered place. It has ravishing green groves and pristine lakes with floating tombs too. The ponds are also ideal for watching turtles, swans and ducks while majestic peacocks roam the grounds free. Housed within the cemetery is a large open-air ground, Fairbanks Lawn, where movie screenings are held every Saturday night in summer. You can bring blankets, pillows, tools and alcohol to the movie screening. On Halloween, the cemetery is decorated with bright lighting and huge pumpkins, attracting tourists from across the country to celebrate. With historic tales and a mysterious aura, Hollywood Forever Cemetery is one of California’s most fascinating locations to visit.
