With a population of less than 2,000 people, Los Alamos is Santa Barbara’s most decidedly tranquil town. Named after the Spanish phrase meaning “The Cottonwood”, this vintage city is endowed with the old West heritage and has a sprawling tropical ranch. The ranch has acres of fragrant vineyards and wine factories which you can tour with your family and children during weekends.
Los Alamos County Park covers a startling stretch of 51 acres and houses landscaped plantations, trails and wildlife, offering the perfect setting for treks and biking. Families also enjoy picnics and grilled food at the park. La Purisima Golf Course also offers spectacular walkable terrain and verdant tropical flora. The Santa Ynez Valley is a shopper’s paradise, having over 200 independent boutiques owned by locals. Live entertainment, pulsating nightlife and western rock music are treats for your evenings. Among other attractions, Space VR is a virtual reality arcade with over 300 games and experiences. Skyview Motel in Los Alamos has 33 guest rooms, a pool deck and a sun-soaked farmhouse. Their desert-chic accommodations feature handmade upholstery and balconies with dynamic bay views. Plenty on Bell and Pico Restaurants are the two most popular diners in town offering professionally cooked seafood, wood-fired pizzas and great drinks.
